Summer Wine Classic Car Hire Ltd was founded in 2005
to provide quality classic cars for self-drive and chauffeured wedding
hire from its base in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. The company is owned
and run by Richard and Loretta Skelton who also provide bed and breakfast
accommodation at their home, Ash
House, an imposing former mill owner's residence overlooking countryside
on the edge of the famous Summer Wine town.
As well as supplying beautiful
and characterful cars for others to enjoy, we are classic car enthusiasts
and we have always used the cars ourselves at every opportunity. Meticulously
maintained and given regular exercise, our classic vehicles have,
without exception, always been kept in absolutely tip-top order. As
a result, we have driven our cars with confidence to weddings all
over the north of England.
We helped hundreds of brides get to the
church on time and at one point we had six fantastic classic wedding
cars on our fleet. It was a great pleasure to take part in so many
happy occasions but at the end of 2011 we decided to scale the business
right down and concentrate on other things. But we still have one
very special motor car which we enjoy for ourselves and which is is
available for chauffered wedding day hire.
That car is our fabulous
1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, an extraordinarily elegant saloon
car formerly owned by the Queen's dress designer, Sir Norman Hartnell.
