Dave enjoyed his day in the E-Type. I know he is aiming towards owning one in a few years' time, once we have somewhere more suitable to keep it, but for now we are having to make do with a silver matchbox car that sits on our hall table as a reminder!

My husband arranged hiring the car as a surprise to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. When he pulled up I burst into tears - I just couldn't believe it. I have always loved Jaguars and the Mark II is my favourite so it really was a dream come true. We enjoyed a fantastic three days with the car and every time we drove it people would smile and wave. The room was most comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The car magazines and pictures of the "fleet" of classics around the room made the experience even more enjoyable.

After setting off in the E-Type I was wondering why so many people were looking at us, until the penny dropped - I was driving one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. But as I was concentrating on driving it so much - nice and steady, it was pouring down after all - I had not noticed the impression we were making! No doubt some were wondering what I was doing with such a lovely car out in the rain!

The car performed absolutely beautifully, even when we had to go through a "lake" several inches deep. You can imagine that being so low to the road, in a car 46 years old, I was fearing the worst, but it "sailed through" and did not give me one moment's trouble. Despite the weather the whole experience was excellent; I would recommend it to anyone.
