An absolute icon of the swinging '60s, the Jaguar E-Type created a sensation when it first appeared in 1961, was refined and developed throughout the decade and was still top of the pops when Summer Wine Classics' superb car was supplied to its first owner in January 1969.
The XKE, as the E-Type was known in the USA, arguably went to seed a little in the 1970s but before the car became fat and flabby in Series Three form, its development peaked with the Series Two models, of which ALK 48G is a superb example.
It remains many people's ambition to drive a Jaguar E-Type and the experience of driving our signal red example of this legendary sports car will not disappoint.
A remarkably original car, our 1969 Jaguar E-Type has only had a handful of owners from new and its full history is known to us. It is one of three cars we bought from a lifelong Jaguar enthusiast and collector in the summer of 2008.
As well as being a superb driving car, ALK 48G is also a practical vehicle with occasional rear seats which can accommodate two children and, for short journeys, adults too!
