The Historic and Classic Car Hirers' Guild

The Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it was launched in April 1961 and Jaguar's order books were full within days. The original 3.8 litre flat floor model (so called because after the first few hundred cars Jaguar modified the design of the floor pans to increase legroom) is the first and most keenly sought after version of this iconic British sports car which was in production for 14 years.

This Series One flat floor Jaguar E-Type was the 91st RHD coupe off the production line and it is the earliest and most historically significant Jaguar E-type available anywhere in the UK for self drive hire. Manufactured on 11 December 1961, the car was shipped to Henlys of Manchester just before Christmas and supplied to its proud new owner, Jaguar enthusiast and RAC Competition official Bryan Corser on Boxing Day. The black and white picture in the gallery shows Corser using the car in his capacity of Clerk of the Course at Loton Park Hill Climb near Shrewsbury (the car carried his Severn Valley Motor Club number plate until 1963 when it was transferred to his Jaguar Mk X saloon).

It remains many people's ambition to drive a Jaguar E-Type and without doubt this is the most desirable model of all. While remaining original in appearance, our British Racing Green E-Type has been discreetly improved by the fitting of electronic ignition, upgraded brakes, halogen headlights and an all synchromesh gearbox with overdrive. In keeping with our policy of continual improvement of our cars, much money has been spent on this special Jaguar. It drives superbly.
